Women's Cross Country finishes fourth at St. Joseph's (LI) Invitational
Escobar, Davies finish in top 15; Conference playoffs conclude 2006 season next week
10/21/2006 - (Patchogue, NY) - The final competition of the 2006 regular season proved to be a successful one for the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Cross Country team as the Dolphins finished fourth at Saturday's St. Joseph's (LI) Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park. Mount Saint Vincent earned 80 total points, finishing 13 points behind Suffolk Community College, 21 points behind Purchase College, and 48 points behind winner St. Joseph's (LI). Perhaps the most encouraging sign of the day was that the Dolphins finished a commanding 74 points ahead of 2005 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Champion, St. Joseph's (LI) only one week before the 2006 Conference Championships.

Mount Saint Vincent was led once again by senior Teresa Escobar (Highland Falls, NY/O'Neill HS) who finished fourth overall out of more than 50 runners. Escobar completed the hilly course in 23:33, showing incredible improvement - as she has done throughout the 2006 season. Escobar was not the only Dolphin who starred on Saturday as junior Erin Davies (Islip, NY/Islip HS) finished 13th in 24:59, and freshman Erica Costanzo (Barnstead, NH/Tilton School) also placed in the top-20 with a time of 26:46.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29 when they compete at the HVWAC Championships on Saturday and the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday both at Van Cortlandt Park. Sunday's event will conclude the 2006 season for Mount Saint Vincent.
