Laurent, Fraino, Burud enjoy solid matches; Dolphins travel
to CNR on Wednesday
10/9/2006 - (Purchase, NY) – Junior Megan
Fraino (New City, NY/Clarkstown South HS),
freshman Karen Laurent (Queens, NY/St.
John’s Prep), and junior Kaitlin
Burud (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook HS) all enjoyed solid
outings in singles action, but the Mount Saint Vincent
Women’s Tennis team lost its fourth straight match,
9-0 to defending Skyline Conference Champion Manhattanville
during a match played at Manhattanville on Monday
afternoon. With the loss, the Dolphins fall to 1-5 overall
and 0-3 in Skyline Conference play.
Laurent enjoyed a fine match at first singles, losing 6-2, 6-1 to an individual many consider one of the best singles players in the Skyline Conference. Later, Fraino and Burud competed in incredible matches at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, with Fraino losing 6-4, 6-1 and Burud dropping a 6-4, 6-2 thriller. The three matches would prove to be the closest the Mount came to scoring a team point during the day.
