Three Mount Saint Vincent Spring sports to compete in Columbus Day Weekend events
Softball/Men’s Lacrosse to travel to New Jersey for tournaments; Women’s Lacrosse to compete on Long Island
10/6/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Three Mount Saint Vincent Spring teams will compete in Columbus Day Weekend events as part of their Fall non-traditional seasons. The Mount Saint Vincent Softball and Men’s Lacrosse teams will travel to New Jersey for competition on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, while the Women’s Lacrosse team will travel to Long Island for a Columbus Day Tournament on Monday.

Softball will compete at Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey for the second consecutive season. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team will face host Centenary College, Baruch College and Brookdale College. Mount Saint Vincent is coming off of a 2006 season in which they finished with a 15-24 overall record, and advanced to the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Quarterfinals.

Men’s Lacrosse travels on Sunday to the Cougar Fall Ball Invitational at Kean University where they will meet several familiar opponents. At 10:00 a.m., the Mount will battle Division I program, Wagner College. 90 minutes later, the Dolphins will face Dominican College. After a break, the Dolphins face host Kean University at 2:30 p.m. and Alvernia College at 4:00 p.m. Mount Saint Vincent finished the 2006 season with a 2-9 overall record and is looking forward to 2006 when they compete in the Skyline Conference for the first time.

Women’s Lacrosse will compete in a Fall tournament for the first time on Monday when they compete at the Molloy College Invitational at Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, New York. The Dolphins open the day at 10:00 a.m. when they meet host Molloy College, and an hour later they meet Division I program Howard University. After a break, the Mount’s day ends after a 12:40 p.m. match-up with Nassau Community College. Mount Saint Vincent enters 2007 with high hopes after finishing the 2006 campaign with a 9-8 regular season record and berths in the Skyline Conference Semifinals and ECAC Upstate Semifinals.
