MacDonald and Herrera left little doubt as to who would control the game from the opening whistle as the duo combined for five goals during the game’s first 22 minutes, three of which were scored during the first seven minutes of play, and the Mount led 5-0 at the half. After Yeshiva scored twice during a five-minute span to open the second half to make things interesting, Hernandez scored a beautiful goal in the 67th minute to make it a 6-2 game, and Herrera scored his third of the game in the 84th minute to bring the lead back to five.
Mount Saint Vincent out-shot Yeshiva 26-11, and controlled possession nearly the entire game. Sophomore goalie William Raftery (Bronx, NY/Salesian) earned the win, making seven saves during the first half of play.
Mount Saint Vincent springs right back into action on Tuesday, Sept. 19 when they host Skyline Conference rival Mount Saint Mary at 4:00 p.m. The game will be played at Redmond-Cooke Field in Yonkers, NY.
