Women's Tennis dominant in 6-3 rout of Pratt for first win of 2006
Fraino, Laurent victorious in singles action as Dolphins open HVWAC campaign with victory
9/16/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) - Juniors Megan Fraino (New City, NY/Clarkstown South HS) and Megan Rochford (Lynbrook, NY/Malverne HS), and freshman Karen Laurent (Queens, NY/St. John's Prep) were victorious in singles play as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Tennis team opened their 2006 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) slate with an 6-3 win over the Pratt Institute during a match played at Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon. With the Conference win, the Dolphins improve to 1-1 for the 2006 season and avenge an 8-1 loss to the Cannoneers during the 2005 season.

Laurent and Fraino were simply dominant in first and third singles play, respectively, with Laurent winning 10-6 and Fraino capturing a 10-4 victory. Rochford contributed a 10-7 win at second singles to give the Mount a 3-0 lead, and from there, the Mount rolled, winning every singles match except for fourth singles, and then taking the third doubles flight to clinch the match. Pratt was able to score wins at first and second doubles, but it was too little, too late.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 14 when they host Skyline Conference powerhouse, Stevens Institute of Technology, at 4:00 p.m.
