Natalia Smirnova, Assistant Professor of Business and Economics at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, was among a group of educators who rang the New York Stock Exchange’s Opening Bell Tuesday, August 15, 2006.

Smirnova is participating in the New York Stock Exchange’s Teachers’ Workshop Program, an intense and exciting week long workshop designed for business, economics and social studies instructors.  The seminar includes presentations from Stock Exchange officials and constituents, as well as lectures and discussion sessions that provide an opportunity for teachers to share experiences and develop new curriculum approaches.  Participants take part in numerous hands-on activities and field experiences, including a visit to the trading floor, where they interact with and observe market professionals. A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Smirnova joined the Mount Saint Vincent faculty in the fall of 2005.  She teaches courses in finance, economics, and money and banking.  She previously worked as an economic analyst and forecaster for the City of New York.
