Men’s Tennis loses 4-3 heartbreaker to Maritime College to finish regular season 0-11
MacDonald, Cooke, Sens-Castet victorious in singles action, Dolphins 1-2 in doubles play
4/27/2006 - (Bronx, NY) – Somebody forgot to tell the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Tennis team that they were supposed to go down quietly to end the 2006 season.  In fact, by the looks of things yesterday, a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Maritime was not much of a loss at all, instead it seemed to be the next step in the development of a program restarted from scratch during the 2006 season.

Senior Chris MacDonald (Farmingdale, NY/Nassau CC) set the tone for the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles to open play, and sophomores Garrett Cooke (Wickford, RI/Bishop Hendricken) and Nicholas Sens-Castet (Brooklyn, NY/St. John’s Prep) earned thrilling victories at third and fourth singles, respectively, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Tennis team fell to 0-11 with the closest of losses to their Skyline Conference foe to the east.

A 3-3 split in singles action put the match in the hands of the three doubles teams, and after MacDonald and Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME/Mount Blue HS) were victorious in the #1 spot, 8-3, the Privateers earned 8-3 wins at second and third doubles to clinch the match.

While the regular season is now over, with only one senior on the roster, the Mount’s future does seem to be very bright. The Dolphins end the 2006 season on Saturday, May 6 at the Hudson Valley Men’s Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Championships.
