Women’s Lacrosse sails past St. Joseph’s (CT), 22-9, to improve to 8-8
Garcia nets career-high six assists while O’Donnell chips in six points; Dolphins to face Montclair State in Skyline Semifinals on Wednesday
4/24/2006 - (Hartford, CT) – Sophomore Marie Garcia (Medford, MA/Medford HS) registered a career-high six assists, and freshman Ciara O’Donnell (Bethpage, NY/Kellenberg) chipped in four goals and two assists as the Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Lacrosse team raced out to a 15-3 first half lead en route to a 22-9 win over St. Joseph’s (CT) during a game played on Monday at St. Joseph’s. With the win, Mount Saint Vincent improves to 8-8 for the 2006 season with one regular season game to play.

Mount Saint Vincent jumped all over the Blue Jays on Monday, scoring only 31 seconds after the opening draw, and six times overall during the first six minutes of play. Sophomore Amanda Nadhir (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Marian) scored five times during the first 17 minutes of the game, and Mount Saint Vincent enjoyed a 15-3 lead with 7:05 remaining in the first half before putting the breaks on and headed into halftime with the 12-goal lead.

The second half allowed the Dolphin reserves and defense to join the scoring rush, and freshman Jenna McColgan (Malverne, NY/Malverne HS) tallied her first career multi-goal game, while sophomore defender Michelle Yarger (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly HS) netted two goals and an assist during her first action on the offensive half during the 2006 season. Garcia put on a show during the final 30 minutes, registering five of her six assists as Mount Saint Vincent set a season high for goals.

Also having big games for the Mount were sophomore Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon HS) who had a goal and three assists, and junior Elizabeth Clark (Silver Spring, MD/St. John’s Prep) had two goals and an assist.

Mount Saint Vincent dominated every facet of the game statistically, outshooting St. Joseph’s 41-17, and winning 28 of the game’s 33 draw controls.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, April 26 when they play their first ever playoff game, a road encounter with top-seeded Montclair State in the Skyline Conference semifinals.
