Women’s Lacrosse cruises to second straight win, 17-4 over Western Connecticut; now 7-7
Dolphins race out to 12-1 halftime lead and never look back; Eight different Dolphins score goals
4/19/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Sophomores Marie Garcia (Medford, MA/Medford HS) and Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon HS) combined for nine points, and freshman Ciara O’Donnell (Bethpage, NY/Kellenberg) registered her seventh hat trick of the 2006 season as the Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Lacrosse team downed Western Connecticut 17-4 in a non-conference home game played at Maritime College. With the win, the Dolphins improve their record to 7-7 for the 2006 season, and have three regular season games remaining along with the Skyline Conference playoffs.

Garcia was sensational during the early going, registering two goals and three assists during the first 11 minutes of play as the Mount jumped out to a 7-0 lead en route to a 12-1 advantage at halftime. Both Garcia and Adams – who scored four times – did all of their scoring during the first half of play as Mount Saint Vincent out-shot the Colonials 23-9 and won 10 out of 14 draw controls during the first 30 minutes of play. O’Donnell became the first Dolphin to break the 30-goal mark this season as her three-goal output gives her 31 goals and 36 points this season, both team highs.

Also having big games for the Mount were sophomore Chanel Comis (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) who scored three times, and Amanda Nadhir (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Marian) found the back of the net twice. Eight different Dolphins scored during the game, and the Mount combined for seven assists as a team. On the defensive end, freshman goalie Alexis Balingcongan (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove HS) earned the win in net as she stopped 13 out of 17 Western Connecticut shots.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, April 22 when they travel to Skyline Conference leader Montclair State for a 1:00 p.m. game.
