Troncoso named HVWAC Softball Rookie of the Week for second straight week
Bats .615 to lead Dolphins to 3-2 record; Adams named to Skyline Conference Honor Roll for Women’s Lacrosse
4/18/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Jillian Troncoso (West Haverstraw, NY/West Haverstraw HS) was named the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Softball Rookie of the Week for the second straight week after an incredible performance in leading the Dolphins to a 3-2 record. During a doubleheader sweep of Maritime College, a single game win over Lehman College, and a twin-bill defeat at the hands of Centenary, Troncoso hit an incredible .615 with eight RBI’s and eight runs scored. She also did not strike out once during the stretch, and was a perfect 5 for 5 on the base-paths.

Troncoso’s best performance came during the 10-0 rout of Lehman on Tuesday when she went 2 for 2 plus a walk with 5 RBI’s and two runs scored as the Dolphins dominated their local Division III rival. For the 2006 season, Troncoso is leading the team with a .523 batting average, 22 RBI’s, and a .705 slugging percentage. She is also second on the team with 14 runs scored. After splitting a doubleheader with St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) on Monday, the Dolphins are currently 8-21 overall, and 1-2 in HVWAC play.

Also earning a Conference honor this week was sophomore Women’s Lacrosse attacker Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon HS). Adams had a career-high six goals and added an assist during an 18-8 win over Farmingdale State on Monday. Adams is currently third on the team with 18 goals this season as Mount Saint Vincent is 6-7 after a 16-4 win over Centenary on Tuesday.
