Men’s Tennis falls to 0-7 after 7-0 loss to Manhattanville
Cooke, Maurer outstanding during singles losses as Dolphins swept for third straight match
4/17/2006 - (Purchase, NY) – Sophomores Garret Cooke (Wickford, RI/Bishop Hendricken) and Michael Maurer (Hampton, NH/Winnaconnet HS) were outstanding in singles action, and the Dolphin doubles team of Cooke and Nicholas Sens-Castet (Brooklyn, NY/St. John’s Prep) competed in a thrilling match, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Tennis team fell to 0-7 with a 7-0 loss to Manhattanville College during a match played at Manhattanville on Tuesday. With the Skyline Conference loss, the Dolphins fell to 0-4 in Conference play as well.

After Chris MacDonald (Plainedge, NY/Nassau CC) fell 6-1, 6-1 at first singles, Cooke turned in an incredible effort in the second slot, falling 6-2, 6-2. Maurer competed at fifth singles, losing 6-2, 6-1 and no other Dolphin captured more than a single game. Cooke returned to the court at second singles with Sens-Castet, and the duo fell 8-1, marking the only time on Tuesday that the Mount captured a game in doubles action.

Mount Saint Vincent will look to break into the win column when they travel to USMMA-Kings Point for a 4:00 p.m. match on Wednesday.
