Mooney named to Division III All-Met Men’s Basketball Team
Senior named to Second Team after incredible senior campaign in which he became MSV’s all-time leading scorer
4/16/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball senior James Mooney (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) was named to the Division III All-Met Men’s Basketball team this week after an incredible final campaign at the Mount in which he became the all-time leading scorer in school history. Mooney joins four other Skyline Conference Basketball players on the  All-Met teams.

Mooney’s award comes after completing one of the finest individual careers in Mount Saint Vincent history with a senior season that earned the shooting guard both local and national acclaim. He finished his senior campaign averaging 26.8 points per game which ranked him second in the Skyline Conference and fifth in the nation. His 4.4 three point field goals per game was the best average in the Skyline Conference and fourth best in the nation, and Mooney also led the Skyline Conference with 3.0 steals per game, which was also good for 11th best in the nation.

Mooney’s game statistics were simply incredible: 22 games with at least 14 points scored, 18 games with 20 points or more, and 14 games with at least 30 points, including his last four games. On Feb. 18, he scored 32 points during his final career game, and became the all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history with 1,793 points. On top with the highest scoring total in the history of the program, Mooney added 433 career rebounds, 286 assists, and 223 steals. His 318 career three-point field goals places him among the top-20 three point shooters in NCAA Division III history. Mooney was also named Skyline Conference Player of the Week twice, Honor Roll five times, and was named to the PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll five times.

Mooney will receive the honor on Wednesday, April 19 at the 73rd annual NIT/MBWA Awards Dinner which will be held at the Giants Stadium Club in East Rutherford, New Jersey.   He will be joined by members of the Athletic Department Administration, including the Men's Basketball Coaching staff.

The Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team finished the 2005-06 season with a 9-16 overall record, including a 5-10 record in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins missed the Skyline Conference playoffs by mere percentage points.
