Troncoso went 2 for 2, drove in five runs, and scored twice, and Riddle pitched her third straight masterpiece as Mount Saint Vincent ripped local rival Lehman 10-0 for their fifth straight win. With the victory, the Mount improved to 7-18 overall, and is beginning to make serious waves as the post-season draws near. The Dolphins scored in every at bat, including five runs during the second inning to blow the game wide open. After Jessica Piccoli (Yonkers, NY/Saunders HS) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score a run, Troncoso ripped a double that drove in three runs. Then, Shannon O’Connor (White Plains, NY/Maria Regina) plated Troncoso to make it 7-0 Mount Saint Vincent after two innings.
That was more than enough for Riddle, who has allowed exactly one earned run during her last 15 innings pitched. The freshman allowed only one hit and did not walk a batter while striking out four. Thanks to Riddle’s recent string of success, her ERA has dropped from just over 21 to 7.84 … and it continues to decline.
Troncoso has enjoyed one of the finest weeks in Dolphin Softball history. During the last seven days, Mount Saint Vincent has played seven games, and during that stretch, Troncoso has gone an unbelievable 13 for 18 (.722) at the plate with 18 RBI’s and 12 runs scored. Incredibly, Troncoso has not struck out during the stretch, and now leads the Mount with a .526 batting average and 22 RBI’s.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, April 12 when they host Centenary for a Skyline Conference doubleheader at 4:00 p.m.
