Women’s Lacrosse sweeps upstate New York trip with big wins over Keuka, Medaille
Dolphin defense allows seven total goals during back-to-back games; Tripp nets seven points during first career start on Sunday
3/27/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Sophomore Maureen Payne (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Marian) netted eight points during two games and was dominant as the Mount’s Center, and a Dolphin defense led by sophomore Michelle Yarger (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly HS), sophomore Erin Davies (Islip, NY/Islip HS), and freshman Megan Fleri (Islip, NY/Islip HS) held two opponents to a combined seven goals as the Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Lacrosse team improved to 3-2 with a weekend sweep of Keuka College and Medaille College during a trip to upstate New York. The Dolphins opened play with a 13-2 win over Keuka on Saturday at Hobart College, and then took to the field 24 hours later and crushed Medaille, 20-5 on Sunday. 
Sophomore Maureen Payne had a huge weekend with seven goals and an assist, and was dominant at the draw circle as Mount Saint Vincent swept a weekend trip to upstate New York, 13-2 over Keuka on Saturday and 20-5 over Medaille on Sunday. Mount Saint Vincent is now 3-2 and travels to Babson on Thursday night.

Payne was incredible on Saturday, scoring twice during the first 2:30 to put the Mount ahead. The game went back and forth throughout the first half and Mount Saint Vincent led 5-2 after 30 minutes. However, the Mount exploded during the second half, outscoring Keuka 8-0 during that stretch as Payne netted her third of the game, and Chanel Comis (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) scored a hat-trick, while Amanda Nadhir (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Marian) and Marie Garcia (Medford, MA/Medford HS) each scored twice and added an assist. Mount Saint Vincent outshot Keuks 32-15 for the game.

The Dolphins wasted little time Sunday jumping all over Medaille, scoring four goals during the game’s first two minutes and then cruising to victory. The game saw the emergence of freshman Stacie Tripp (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove HS), who celebrated her first collegiate start with an unbelievable four-goal, three-assist effort. Nine different Dolphins scored during the win as Payne tallied four more goals and added an assist, while Nadhir scored a hat-trick, and Comis added two goals and two assists. Junior Beth Clark (Silver Spring, MD/St. John’s Prep) tallied a career-high four points with two goals and two assists.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Thursday, March 30 when they travel to face New England powerhouse Babson College at 7:00 p.m.
