Softball falls to 1-11 after losing four straight during Skyline Conference opening weekend
Dolphins hang tough with USMMA, St. Joseph’s (LI); will look to get back to winning ways this week
3/26/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Pitchers Krista Roberts (Wilmington, MA/Wilmington HS), Jillian Troncoso (West Haverstraw, NY/West Haverstraw HS) and Jessica Riddle (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) enjoyed fine weekends, allowing a combined 22 earned runs over four games, but the Mount Saint Vincent Softball team fell to 1-11 overall, and 0-4 in Skyline Conference play after being swept in doubleheaders by USMMA-Kings Point Saturday and St. Joseph’s (LI) Sunday during the opening weekend of Skyline Conference play. Kings Point won Saturday’s games 8-0 and 9-1, while St. Joseph’s (LI) swept Sunday’s twin-bill, 6-0 and 8-1.

Mount Saint Vincent struggled at the plate all weekend long, hitting a combined .088 with no Dolphin getting more than two hits. The lone Mount Saint Vincent RBI went to Riddle, who also pitched 10.2 innings over two games, and allowed only 10 earned runs while striking out four. Troncoso also had a solid outing on Saturday against USMMA as she allowed only four earned runs over 4.2 innings of play and struck out two.

Mount Saint Vincent has lost 10 straight games, but returns to action on Tuesday for their 2006 home opener when they host Baruch College for a non-conference game at 3:00 p.m.
