Cuozzo, Munroe lead Mount Saint Vincent Baseball past CCNY, 8-5
Dolphins snap four-game losing streak, now 8-5; open Skyline play this weekend
3/22/2006 - (Brooklyn, NY) – Freshman Josh Cuozzo (Westbury, NY/Clarke HS) went 2 for 2 with four RBI’s, and sophomore Tanner Munroe (Milford, CT/Foran HS) added 2 RBI’s as the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team snapped a four-game losing streak with an 8-5 win over CCNY on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Mount improves to 8-5 overall with Skyline Conference play beginning this weekend.

The Mount jumped out to a 6-1 lead after two innings, as Munroe’s 2 RBI single broke things wide open. Cuozzo had RBI’s in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings, and is now batting .500 this season and is second on the team with 15 total RBI’s. Also having outstanding games for Mount Saint Vincent were junior Joe Utschig (Pleasantville, NY/Westlake HS), who went 1 for 2, drove in a run, scored three times, and stole four bases, and sophomore Eddie Park (Westbury, NY/Clarke HS) scored twice and stole a base.

On the mound, sophomore Tony Palandro (Westbury, NY/Clarke HS) earned his first win of the season after pitching into the fifth inning and allowing four earned runs. He also struck out four CCNY batters.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action this weekend with two huge Skyline Conference doubleheaders. On Saturday, the Mount travels to Centenary for a twin-bill with the defending Skyline Conference Champions at noon. The next day the Mount will travel to Manhattanville for a noon doubleheader with the Skyline Conference powerhouse.
