Four Mount Saint Vincent seniors to participate in Skyline-NJAC Senior Basketball Game
Skyline Conference rivals to take court together to face the best seniors from the NJAC
3/22/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Mount Saint Vincent senior men’s basketball players James Mooney (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep), Charles Hernandez (Bronx, NY/Msgr. Scanlan), and women’s basketball players Andrea DiNizo (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Masters) and Laura Bucci (Irvington, NY/Our Lady of Victory) will represent the Mount one final time on the hardwood on Wednesday night as they will participate in the inaugural Skyline-NJAC Senior Basketball

The Women’s game will take place at 6:00 p.m., while the Men’s game will begin at 8:00 p.m. The foursome were selected to represent the Skyline Conference by the other coaches within the conference, and will face the very best seniors that the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) has to offer.

Mooney and Hernandez each enjoyed tremendous senior seasons with Mooney earning First Team All-Conference honors after averaging 26.8 points per game, and chipping in 4.4 rebounds per game, 75 assists and 69 steals. He also finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history with 1,793 points. Hernandez had a solid season as the Mount’s point guard as he averaged 9.8 points per game and was the team leader in both rebounds (144), and assists (123).

DiNizo and Bucci also enjoyed much success this season with DiNizo being named Honorable Mention All-Conference by the Skyline after averaging 13.3 points per game and adding 63 assists. She finished her career with 1,239 points. Bucci, an All-Conference selection by the Skyline a year ago, finished the season averaging 9.4 points per game, and she added a team-leading 91 assists.
