Women’s Lacrosse falls to 1-2 after 15-9 loss to FDU-Florham
O’Donnell nets second consecutive hat trick, Balingcongan: 18 saves; Dolphins outscore Devils 7-5 during second half
3/21/2006 - (Florham, NJ) – Freshman Ciara O’Donnell (Bethpage, NY/Kellenberg) notched her second consecutive hat trick, sophomore Marie Garcia (Medford, MA/Medford HS) scored twice and added an assist, and freshman goalie Alexis Balingcongan (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove HS) made 18 saves, but the Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Lacrosse team fell to 1-2 with a 15-9 loss to FDU-Florham during a game played at FDU.

The first 20 minutes was all FDU as the Devils (5-1) jumped out to a 9-2 lead with 10 minutes to play in the first half, and despite closer play during the latter portions of the opening half, FDU led 10-2 at halftime. The second half saw a complete momentum shift as Mount Saint Vincent dominated time of possession during the final 20 minutes and brought the difference as close as five goals, but thanks to a stellar effort by FDU goalie Jennifer Kessler, who made 18 saves, the game never got closer.

Besides Garcia’s and O’Donnell’s heroics, sophomore Chanel Comis (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) added two goals, and freshman Stacie Tripp (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove HS) scored the first two goals of her collegiate career during the second half. Overall, FDU enjoyed a 32-27 advantage in shots, and 23-20 edge in ground balls.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action this weekend when they travel to upstate New York for consecutive games at Keuka College and Medaille College, respectively.
