Mount Saint Vincent showed tremendous improvement Saturday over their first encounter with the Ducks (21-9, 11-0 NECVA Metro) as this time around they combined for a positive attack percentage and a better serving match. The Mount was swept, 16-30, 19-30, and 13-30, but the games were far closer than the scores indicated. Ultimately, it was Steven’s depth and size that carried the match as the Ducks had 11 total blocks and only one blocking error, while the Mount had only 8.5 blocks and nine blocking errors. Stevens also had the superior attacking match as they amassed 45 kills and a .352 attack percentage, while the Dolphins had 19 kills and a .044 attack percentage.
For the Mount, Ross and Dotoratos were solid once again, and senior Russell Butts (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach HS) also had a fine match with team highs in both digs (8) and blocks (3). The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, March 18 when they travel to SUNY New Paltz for a 2:00 p.m. match.
