CCNY won the match thanks to a tremendous advantage at the net as the Beavers (12-11) combined for 18 total blocks, while the Mount registered 10. The Dolphins also combined for 17 blocking errors, giving CCNY a decisive advantage. CCNY also had a superior hitting night as they registered 36 kills against only seven errors while the Mount had 36 kills themselves, but they also amassed 32 errors as a team. The Beavers swept the match, 26-30, 20-30, and 29-31.
Other than Butts and Pufahl’s heroics, freshman setter Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY/Salesian) also had a big match as he registered 30 assists and added eight digs. Three Dolphins had 11 digs as Pufahl, Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME/Mount Blue HS), and Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Mary’s) each had solid defensive evenings.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, March 11 when the host Stevens, the nation’s 7th ranked team at 12:00 p.m.
