Mooney named First Team All-Conference for second consecutive season, DiNizo named Honorable Mention
3/2/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball senior James Mooney (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) and Women’s Basketball senior Andrea DiNizo (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Masters) were both named All-Conference by the Skyline Conference today after incredible seasons to end their respective careers in fine fashion. Mooney was named First Team All-Conference for the second consecutive season after earning Honorable Mention All-Conference as a sophomore, while DiNizo was named Honorable Mention All-Conference for her first ever Skyline Conference honor.

Senior James Mooney was named First Team All-Conference by the Skyline Conference for the second consecutive season after averaging 26.8 points per game during the 2005-06 season.
t Saint Vincent history with a senior season that earned the shooting guard both local and national acclaim. He finished his senior campaign averaging 26.8 points per game which ranked him second in the Skyline Conference and fifth in the nation. His 4.4 three point field goals per game was the best average in the Skyline Conference and fourth best in the nation, and Mooney also led the Skyline Conference with 3.0 steals per game, which was also good for 11th best in the nation.

Mooney’s game statistics were simply incredible: 22 games with at least 14 points scored, 18 games with 20 points or more, and 14 games with at least 30 points, including his last four games. On Feb. 18, he scored 32 points during his final career game, and became the all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history with 1,793 points. On top with the highest scoring total in the history of the program, Mooney added 433 career rebounds, 286 assists, and 223 steals. His 318 career three-point field goals places him among the top-20 three point shooters in NCAA Division III history. Mooney was also named Skyline Conference Player of the Week twice, Honor Roll five times, and was named to the PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll five times.

DiNizo, who was also named to the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) All-Conference team, led the Dolphins in scoring with 13.3 points per game, and was also among the team’s leaders in assists (63) and steals (44). Her 2005-06 season included 17 games with 10 points scored or more, and three games with 20 points or more, including a career-high 29 points during a win over the College of New Rochelle on Feb. 11. DiNizo finished her Mount Saint Vincent career with 1,239 points, 224 rebounds, 182 assists, and 163 steals. She was named to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll three times during the season, and to the PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll once.

The Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball team finished the 2005-06 season with a 9-16 overall record, including a 5-10 record in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins missed the Skyline Conference playoffs by mere percentage points. The Women’s Basketball team finished the season with an 8-17 overall record, including a 2-10 record in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins finished the season tied for the final Skyline Conference playoff berth, but they lost 74-62 to Centenary in the Conference play-in game on Feb. 20.
