forward Kaitlin Burud (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook HS) were named to the All-Conference team of the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) after outstanding seasons in which the duo helped lead Mount Saint Vincent to runner-up finishes in both the regular season and championship tournament.

DiNizo, a senior, led the Dolphins in scoring with 13.3 points per game, and was also among the team’s leaders in assists (63) and steals (44). The 2004-05 HVWAC Tournament MVP, DiNizo’s 2005-06 season included 17 games with 10 points scored or more, and three games with 20 points or more, including a career-high 29 points during a win over the College of New Rochelle on Feb. 11. She was also named HVWAC Player of the Week on Feb. 15. DiNizo finished her Mount Saint Vincent career with 1,239 points, 224 rebounds, 182 assists, and 163 steals.

Burud, who was one of the top freshmen in the HVWAC a year ago, enjoyed a tremendous sophomore campaign in which she was the team’s second leading scorer with 10.2 points per game, and also led the Mount with 91 steals. She also finished third on the team with 5.5 rebounds per game. The sophomore’s 2005-06 season included three double-doubles, 11 games with at least 10 points, and a career-high 26 points during a win over Yeshiva on Jan. 31. Burud is considered a key cog in a Mount Saint Vincent rebuilding effort that will take place next season, and her finish to the 2005-06 season is hopefully a sign of things to come as she averaged nearly 14 points per game during the Mount’s final four games.
