TRIO Student Support Services
The TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSS) has
provided educational, professional and cultural enrichment
to its participants since 1997 through a grant from the
U.S. Department of Education. The program enhances the
academic performance, retention, and graduation rates of
its participants through comprehensive support services to
selected low-income, first-generation and/or disabled
college students.
TRIO provides the following programs to assist students with academic and professional growth:

Academic Advocacy
This program provides students with academic counseling and support to help
them excel in academic course-work.

Leadership Development
Students are encouraged to participate in class forums allowing them to learn leadership
skills, activity and program development, and collaboration.

The Mentor/Buddy Program
This program utilizes upper class students who are carefully selected and matched with
incoming freshmen to assist with transition and issues associated with entering college

Computer and Technology
Program
The Trio Lab provides students access to state of the art computers. Each computer is
linked to the Internet and a printer. Individualized assistance is provided for the various
computer software programs offered in the Trio Lab.
