The Golden Flyers swept the match, 15-30, 14-30, and 20-30 as they improve to 12-5 for the 2006 season after a commanding performance in which they amassed 49 kills against only 10 errors, while Mount Saint Vincent had 22 kills against 17 errors. Nazareth also enjoyed a 10-3.5 blocking advantage.
Williams had an outstanding defensive night, and Reinhardt was solid as usual, particularly during the final game in which the Mount gave Nazareth a run for their money, leading for most of the game. Senior Russell Butts (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach HS) and freshman TJ Pufahl (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS) each had the hot hands on offense for the Mount, registering a team-high six kills apiece.
Mount Saint Vincent continues its challenging stretch on Tuesday, Feb. 28 when they host Ramapo College, the nation’s 14th ranked team. Ramapo defeated Mount Saint Vincent, 3-0 on Feb. 7. Tuesday’s match will begin at 8:00 p.m.
