Men’s Lacrosse opens 2006 season with loss to Mariners
Winter scores hat trick, Egan makes 15 saves as Dolphins play 5-5 tie during second half
2/23/2006 - (King’s Point, NY) – Junior Bryan Winter (Islip, NY/Islip HS) scored three goals, and sophomore goalie Tom Egan (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet HS) recorded 15 saves, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Lacrosse team lost their 2006 season opener, 22-5 to USMMA-Kings Point during a game played at USMMA. The meeting was the first since the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse program attained varsity status.

Kings Point (1-0) got off to a fast start, scoring 12 times during the first quarter and the Mariners led 17-0 at halftime before the Mount finally got on track. After USMMA made it a 19-0 game late in the third quarter, the Mount scored five of the game’s final eight goals with Winter recording the hat trick. The Dolphins played an even second half with Kings Point, tying the Mariners 5-5 during the final 30 minutes and taking an even number of shots during the stretch, and the same number of face-offs as well.

Egan was stellar for the Mount making 11 saves before halftime, several of which were of the spectacular variety.

Also scoring goals for the Dolphins were sophomore Jason Reynolds (Centereach, NY/Middle Country HS), and senior Brendan Dunbar (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park HS).

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, March 7 when they travel to Maritime College for a 3:30 p.m. encounter with the Privateers.
