Mooney named ECAC Metropolitan Player of the Week for Men’s Basketball
Senior becomes all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history, already named Skyline Conference Player of the week and to the PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll

Senior James Mooney was named the ECAC Metropolitan Men's Basketball Player of the Week this week after averaging 35.5 points per game last week and becoming the all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history. The award was Mooney's third of the week as he was also named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week and to the PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll.
, who averaged 35.5 points per game during a two-game stretch in which he became the all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history. His week began with a 39-point effort during a 100-84 loss to Manhattanville on Tuesday. Four days later, during a must-win game, Mooney scored 32 points as the Dolphins ended the 2005-06 season with a 79-76 loss to Yeshiva. 

Besides chipping in 35.5 points per game, Mooney also averaged six rebounds per game, and he was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week, as well as to the PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll.

Mooney’s remarkable week capped off a glorious career in which his 23rd point on Saturday night against Yeshiva made him the all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history. His 1,793 career points puts him 10 ahead of Danny Costello, who scored 1,783 points during his three-year career.

Mooney finished the season one of the top players in the nation, averaging 26.8 points per game which was good for second in the Skyline Conference and sixth in the nation. He was also nationally ranked in steals (69) and three-point field goals per game (4.4). Mooney’s 316 career three-point field goals ranks him 16th in Division III history in that category.

Mount Saint Vincent finished the 2005-06 season with a 9-16 overall record, including a 5-10 mark in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins missed the Skyline Conference playoffs by mere percentage points.
