Mooney named Skyline Conference Player of the Week for Men’s Basketball & PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll
Senior averages 35.5 points per game, becomes all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history
2/20/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Basketball senior James Mooney (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week and to the PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll after concluding the 2005-06 season with the second highest point per game scoring week of his four-year career. Mooney averaged 35.5 points per game during a two-game stretch in which the Mount finished 0-2. His week began with a 39-point effort during a 100-84 loss to Manhattanville on Tuesday. Four days later, during a must-win game, Mooney scored 32 points as the Dolphins ended the 2005-06 season with a 79-76 loss to Yeshiva. 
Senior James Mooney was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, and to the MBWA Honor Roll for the fifth time after averaging 35.5 points per game. Mooney finished his Mount Saint Vincent career with 1,793 points and is the all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history.

Besides chipping in 35.5 points per game, Mooney also averaged six rebounds per game, adding to his cause to be named Skyline Player of the Week. He was previously named Player of the Week during the first week of the 2005-06 season when he earned the honor after averaging a career-high 37 points per game. He has also been named to the PrestoSports/MBWA Honor Roll five times this season, the most ever, for a Mount Saint Vincent Basketball player.

Mooney’s remarkable week capped off a glorious career in which his 23rd point on Saturday night against Yeshiva made him the all-time leading scorer in Mount Saint Vincent history. His 1,793 career points puts him 10 ahead of Danny Costello, who scored 1,783 points during his three-year career.

Mooney finished the season one of the top players in the nation, averaging 26.8 points per game which was good for second in the Skyline Conference and sixth in the nation. He was also nationally ranked in steals (69) and three-point field goals per game (4.4). Mooney’s 316 career three-point field goals ranks him 16th in Division III history in that category.

Mount Saint Vincent finished the 2005-06 season with a 9-16 overall record, including a 5-10 mark in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins missed the Skyline Conference playoffs by mere percentage points.
