Men's Volleyball loses 3-0 to NECVA Metro rival Gothic

Dolphins winless on road swing; now 4-7, 2-3 NECVA Metro

HS) registered team-highs in kills (6) and total blocks
(4), and Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME/Mount
Blue HS) added five kills and a team-high 14 digs, but the
Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Volleyball team lost its
fifth straight match, 3-0 to NECVA Metro rival New Jersey
City University on Wednesday night during a match played at
NJCU. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent is now 4-7 overall
and 2-3 in Metro play.

The Dolphins were swept 12-30, 30-32, and 13-30 by the Gothic Knights as NJCU won its sixth straight match thanks to an incredible hitting night. The Gothic Knights hit .407 as a team, striking 41 kills against only 10 errors, while the Mount finished with 23 kills and 21 errors. Only two Dolphins finished with a positive hitting percentage, and the Mount accounted for only six total blocks, while committing 16 blocking errors.

Mount Saint Vincent was also led by the fine play of junior Matthew Reinhardt (Staten Island, NY/McKee-SI Tech), who registered four kills and not a single error, and had a team-high 13 assists.

After an 0-5 road swing, Mount Saint Vincent finally returns home to the friendly confines of the Grace Athletics Center on Saturday, Feb. 18 when they host a doubleheader with Bard College and Cooper Union. The Mount’s match against Bard begins at 2:00 p.m.
