2/7/2006 - (Mahwah, NJ) – Junior Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Mary’s) had eight kills and a team-high .115 attack percentage, and Matthew Reinhardt (Staten Island, NY/McKee-SI Tech) had 15 assists and a match-high three service aces, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Volleyball team saw their three-match winning streak broken on Tuesday night, 3-0 at Ramapo College in a rematch of the 2005 ECAC Metro Championship Game. With the loss, the Dolphins are now 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the NECVA Metro Conference.

Williams and Reinhardt were solid during the first game in which the Mount dropped a 26-30 heartbreaker. The teams were tied at 24 when Ramapo (9-1, 3-1 NECVA Metro) went on a 6-2 run to close the game and set up what would turn into a rout. The Roadrunners cruised through the next two games, 22-30 and 17-30, thanks in part to a tough hitting night for the Mount. The Dolphins committed 13 service errors and had a -.045 team attack percentage as they committed 23 attacking errors, while amassing only 19 kills. Williams led the Mount with eight kills, and Russell Butts (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach HS) added five kills and four total blocks. Williams was the only Dolphin with a positive attack percentage.

On the flip side, Ramapo enjoyed a solid hitting night that included a .232 team attack percentage, 13 total blocks, and 42 digs – compared to Mount Saint Vincent’s 21.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action this weekend when they travel to Nazareth College for one of their most challenging stretches of matches this season at the Nazareth College Tournament. The competition opens on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. when the Dolphins face D’Youville. On Sunday, the Mount will meet Eastern Mennonite at noon, and then participate in either the championship or consolation round later that day.
