Men’s Volleyball wins third straight match, 3-1 over York College
Williams, Ross combine for 29 kills; Reinhardt: 38 assists; Dolphins now 4-2
2/4/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Sophomore Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME/Mount Blue HS) and junior Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Mary’s) combined for 29 kills, and Williams added 19 digs for his second double-double of the season as the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Volleyball team won its third straight match, 3-1 over visiting York College on Saturday night. The Dolphins won the first game 30-28, and after losing the second game 26-30 they ended the match by winning the final two games, 30-27 and 30-24, respectively.

Ross and Williams were dominant from the start as the Mount and York played one of the most exciting games of the season to open the match, with Ross’s kill ending the first game. Overall, Williams finished the match with 16 kills, while Ross added 13 to the Mount Saint Vincent effort.  While the Dolphins were sloppy in losing the second game, they rebounded for solid performances during the final two games. The Dolphins were particularly impressive defensively, registering 66 digs and 20 total blocks. Williams, Matt Reinhardt (Staten Island, NY/McKee-Staten Island Tech), Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY/Salesian), and Marcus Frederic (Queens, NY/Holy Cross) each reached double-digits in digs, and Frederic finished the match with a career-high six solo blocks and three assisted blocks.

Mount Saint Vincent was also led by a fine performance by Reinhardt, who had a season-high 38 assists, and added two blocks, 13 digs, two service aces, and two kills.

The win ends a stretch in which Mount Saint Vincent enjoyed three home matches during the last two weeks.  The Dolphins now head on the road for five straight matches, beginning with a Tuesday encounter with Ramapo College at 8:00 p.m. Ramapo defeated Mount Saint Vincent, 3-1 in the Championship Match of the ECAC Metro Tournament in May.
