Ross and Williams were dominant from the start as the Mount and York played one of the most exciting games of the season to open the match, with Ross’s kill ending the first game. Overall, Williams finished the match with 16 kills, while Ross added 13 to the Mount Saint Vincent effort. While the Dolphins were sloppy in losing the second game, they rebounded for solid performances during the final two games. The Dolphins were particularly impressive defensively, registering 66 digs and 20 total blocks. Williams, Matt Reinhardt (Staten Island, NY/McKee-Staten Island Tech), Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY/Salesian), and Marcus Frederic (Queens, NY/Holy Cross) each reached double-digits in digs, and Frederic finished the match with a career-high six solo blocks and three assisted blocks.
Mount Saint Vincent was also led by a fine performance by Reinhardt, who had a season-high 38 assists, and added two blocks, 13 digs, two service aces, and two kills.
The win ends a stretch in which Mount Saint Vincent enjoyed three home matches during the last two weeks. The Dolphins now head on the road for five straight matches, beginning with a Tuesday encounter with Ramapo College at 8:00 p.m. Ramapo defeated Mount Saint Vincent, 3-1 in the Championship Match of the ECAC Metro Tournament in May.
