1/30/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Mount Saint Vincent senior Andrea DiNizo (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Masters) was named to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll this week after one of her finest weeks of play this season. The shooting guard was instrumental in leading the Mount to a 2-1 week that included a dramatic, final-minute 65-64 win over Manhattanville on Tuesday, and an incredible effort during a 67-45 loss to Mount Saint Mary on Saturday in a game that was far closer than the score indicated. For the week, she averaged 10.7 points and 4.3 assists per game, included within the statistics were several clutch shots to help make the week a very successful one for the Dolphins.
Senior Andrea DiNizo was named to the Skyline Conference Honor this week for Women's Basketball after averaging 10.7 points and 4.3 assists per game for Mount Saint Vincent. The Dolphins were 2-1 last week and return to action on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. when they host Yeshiva.

DiNizo’s week began with an eight-point, four-rebound, three-assist effort against Manhattanville on Tuesday which gave the Mount its most dramatic win of the 2005-06 season. After the Dolphins failed to protect a 62-51 lead with 6:53 remaining in the game, Manhattanville held a one-point lead as the final minute ticked away. That’s when DiNizo’s jump shot with 51 seconds left to play gave the Dolphins the lead for good and their second Skyline Conference victory of the season.

Two nights later, DiNizo shifted gears when Mount Saint Vincent traveled to the College of Saint Elizabeth where the Mount won its second consecutive game, 72-39 over the Eagles. With the Dolphins ahead by double-digits early in the game, DiNizo shifted roles to playmaker and chipped in seven assists to go with her eight points as the Mount improved to 2-1 in the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC).

The win over Saint Elizabeth set up a Saturday showdown with defending Skyline Conference Champion, Mount Saint Mary. An 11-point first half by DiNizo was the catalyst for a Mount Saint Vincent effort that gave the Blue Knights all it could handle during the first 20 minutes as the Dolphins trailed only 42-34 at halftime. While the Mount would ultimately fall 67-45, the game against the first place team in the Conference was far closer than the final score indicated. DiNizo finished the game with a team-high 16 points and has now scored 1,106 points during her career.

For the season, DiNizo’s 11.7 points per game leads Mount Saint Vincent, and is good for eighth in the Skyline Conference. Mount Saint Vincent will take to the court twice this week for two home games. The Dolphins host HVWAC foe Yeshiva on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. and will host Stevens on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Mount Saint Vincent is currently 5-12 overall, including a 2-8 record in Skyline Conference play. Their record is deceiving, however, as 13 times this season the Mount has either led, been tied, or trailed by 10 points or less at halftime, including every game against the top six teams in the Skyline Conference.
