Farrow named Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Basketball Rookie of the Week
Freshman averaged 9.3 points, 8.7 rebounds per game; Fitzpatrick named HVWAC Honorable Mention
1/25/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) – Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Basketball freshman Ashley Farrow (Ocean, NJ/Ocean Township HS) has been named the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Rookie of the Week after the finest week of her young career. During a 1-2 week for the Mount, Farrow averaged 9.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, and shot 71 percent from the free throw line.

Farrow’s best game came during a 98-90 loss to Farmingdale last Wednesday, when she registered her first career double-double, scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Mount rebounded from a 16-point halftime deficit to give their Skyline Conference powerhouse foe a tremendous challenge during the second half of play. The forward also added seven points and nine rebounds during an 80-14 win over CCNY the next day.

For the 2005-06 season, Farrow is averaging 4.7 points per game and is third on the team with a 5.9 rebound per game average.

Farrow's selection marks the second straight week a Dolphin was named HVWAC Rookie of the Week as guard Drew Gomes (Thomaston, CT/Thomaston HS) earned the honor one week ago.

Also for Mount Saint Vincent, senior Meagan Fitzpatrick (Yonkers, NY/Our Lady of Victory) earned Honorable Mention honors from the HVWAC after averaging 11.7 points and nine rebounds per game. Against Farmingdale, she scored 18 points (on 7 for 11 shooting) and grabbed 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. For the 2005-06 season, Fitzpatrick is second on the team in scoring with 9.4 rebounds per game, and leads the Mount with 125 total rebounds.

Mount Saint Vincent is currently 4-11 after a thrilling 65-64 win over Manhattanville on Tuesday night. The Dolphins return to action on Thursday, Jan. 26 when they travel to the College of Saint Elizabeth at 7:30 p.m.
