Elmore earns honor after incredible turnaround in 2005
11/9/2005 - (Riverdale, NY) – Since coming to Mount Saint Vincent during the summer of 2004, Head Women’s Soccer Coach Tony Elmore has earned distinction as a Coach who does the work of three. round during the 2005 season, finishing 10-7 after the Mount finished 3-10 during Elmore’s first season at the Dolphin helm in 2004. For his efforts, Elmore was recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty as today Mount Saint Vincent was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year honors by the Skyline Conference. Since Elmore does not have an Assistant Coach, he is literally a staff within himself, and the rest of the Conference took notice.

Within the 10-7 record was an even greater statistical turn-around. Under Elmore’s leadership, the Mount scored nearly five times as many goals (50) this season as they did during the 2004 season (11), and the Dolphin defense cut its goals against average by nearly half a goal per game. More importantly, the Mount won the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HWVAC) Tournament Championship for the first time ever after defeating the College of Staten Island, 1-0 last Sunday.

Elmore and Mount Saint Vincent now looks forward to the 2006 season when the Dolphins are expecting another successful season. With only one starter departing due to graduation, and a roster loaded with freshmen and sophomores, winning the HVWAC Tournament Championship and Coaching Staff of the Year this season could be just the start for Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Soccer.
